LLM Ollama - Free Translations on premises, off the cloud
when dealing with sensitive material, on-premises or even better, on device, can be a good cheap way to get it done. Many LLM can be deployed locally and used without internet - for free.
You can also add interfaces to it or write code to integrate. In fact the LLM can generate the code to your specifications too. (Dan Ritchie at pdhowler.com has been creating new VB scripts for Howler with Copilot, for example).
Just a few steps and clicks and you'll be learning and working with Kazakh.... what's not to like, Borat?

What is the minimum version / build of PD Howler to use VBScript?
not really sure, I'll have to ask Dan. I'll get back when I find out. I do know that there are two things at play. VB scripting support, and the API. You can use the API in other ways, such as C++. As for VB scripting I think it's been around for a while. If you can see the Scripts submenu in the Filter menu, your version has it. You can also see a VBScripts subdirectory where Howler or PD Artist is installed.. Which version do you have? I can install it too and see the subdir if you want. Or just buy the current latest at 50% off through Bastille Day ;-)
there have been other ways to program it by the way including Lua and more, see www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/sdk
I know, old page. Still of value to some ;-)
If you want to join the discussion, I asked the question at the PD Howler group on Facebook - facebook.com/groups/83248621949
It looks like Dan started the development of the API around 2018 so it might be in 2018 or 2019 Edition that you would start seeing the VB Scripts
Please never stop making these videos. This one was very good. I hope I could use this to get rid of objects in a film or video still (single frame) so that I could edit out objects. I’m a long time user, I do need to upgrade, and I am always looking for new creative uses for your software. 😁
I like the result!
Still using Howler for over 15 years, neat video.
Thank you for your kind input
Pd howler is always interesting to work with.
Omg! incredible! I want to see more.
Awesome program. I recently stumbled upon your program on a website about retro CGI. I checked the how to download PD Howler on your website unfortunately it's not compatible with my OS (Windows 7). It says I can't install because I don't have SP1 installed. I tried searching for older versions for my 2012 PC but there aren't any available. Would it be possible to have a a older version of this program? A demo or full version would suffice. I'll mainly use it for learning and painting over 3D. Thank you so much if you ever reply to this.
Really cool. Pdhowler could be used for music video visuals.
yes indeed and thank you
Note that squirreldome has been lost, Dan's now at pdhowler.com
my kind of fun
Looks cool!
Would it be difficult to make a pdhowler version for LINUX? Or make pdhowler run on wine or bottles? Im switching to linux mint as win10 support will end in 2025.
Using the tablet is fantastic with Particles and Foliage, as well as landscape brushes. I love doing that for my "Bob Ross" style landscapes. You can make tree foliage different sizes or for rocks, you can make the rocks thicker or thinner, or lighter/darker.
Looking forward to learning how to create landscapes, skies, animation and more.

This video is an intro for a new paid tutorial collection. It currently has five modules and there will be a few more added over time. We will soon announce it at thebest3d.com If you follow the project dogwaffle group on Facebook you can also see additional examples and videos created by the author Dan Ritchie
Thanks. I've had both sites bookmarked for a few years. I also bought your Digital Art Live presentation on PD Howler.

I am happy I got back into using your software. It's a hidden gem and it's easy to use for my purposes.
Thank you.
Lovely!
Thank you. Very helpful video.
always handy to know and youre not the only one that loses c drive the windows drive disappears I also have to come out and go back in to see all the geometry objects again
good! What kind of software is this?
Pdhowler. See pdhowler.com and thebest3d.com
👍
"Added a close box to the noise tool for users that have a high DPI or low resolution setting and don't see the ok box at the bottom." That is great, I had the problem myself and couldn't see the bottom of the noise panel. Thank you.
Pretty cool! Almost reminds me of a music level visualisation but in 3d.
It is amazing what Howler can do
awesome updates on the noise filter. Keep up the great work!
Id like to know how I get build 87 my Howler is only build 81
If you ordered it through us at thebest3d.com with BMTmicro store it will be distributed today
Yep got it thank you I just totally love pd howler except for the layers that I'm still struggling with especially adding white paint still, love the brushes love the creativeness of it so I'm off to play some more on my fav paint app PD Howler
and the best line of PD Howler 2024 goes to........"if we landed on a planet with some plankton"
Nice work.
I know it's a stupid question but how to export images with a transparent background? it can be done? I can't figure out the way
Yes you can if you have a selection mask. Whether it will be transparent or not is a matter of interpretation by the other program. In order to have a pixel appear transparent it has to have an alpha value. There is no automatic Alpha Channel but you do have Alpha in the selection. Then you can save it as a PNG Ford TGA for example with 32-bit to include the elephant Channel. Another place or another way to do it is to save the image you have in the custom brush. That one is rgba. For example if you paint with the particle brushes in the 1st of the four modes known as optipustics, there are several styles and some of them include Alpha going along the particle paths automatically. You can then easily save that in such a way that the painted brush Strokes will appear opaque in many programs for example if you use the image as a texture map on a billboard polygon in 3D.
I'm sorry but I didn't understand anything of your explanation, I'll give a practical example: I want to make a drawing with branches, I simply want to export these branches as a PNG with a transparent background, is it possible to do it in a simple way? in other programs you just need to deselect the background, but in pd artist the white background always remains.
There are some options in the custom brush settings that allow drawing RGB plus Alpha. Set the lights to do it but it depends on how many brush Strokes you're going to use. In some cases it's easier to just paint on a solid background color like white or blue and then do a selection of that color and then invert the selection and now you have the branch and the tree selected and you can save this as a PNG
Showing how amazing Howler is, as usual!
Hello, what program are you using?
Hi. This is Project dogwaffle. There are a few flavors of it. The top of the line is PD Howler. The author is Dan Ritchie at PDhowler.com
There is also an artist Edition Which is less frequently updated and doesn't do animation.
Thank you!
Super well done!
should have just used traditional layers- it gets so confused and completly goes of the rails when you try to use animation. Everything gets lost!
Well maybe but that's assuming that you actually have layers on each frame of the animation which we don't in this case so you cannot use layers with animation.
Pdhowler is great in cg production. You can generate a lot of stuff and filters that Photoshop can't. I will continue to support this awesome softare. It's Great for creating backgrounds for 2d animation with the new cloud generator. The brushes are also inspiring and fun to use.
thank you!

Hi Dan, I tried the 3d renderer out last week and it is really great. Mabye an option to render a depth map from the 3d object would be useful as well, not sure if possible but it would be useful for VFX depth and mist effects and CNC users etc.
Once you pick a spherical map, is there a way to disable the spherical map and just use the default lights again?
Not yet to my knowledge and I reported stats to Dan for consideration as a future feature. I needed that too. I found a few load another model or even the same one sometimes it will reset things. So if it's a small enough modlily can just double take the currently selected obj file and reload but it's not ideal either. I also tried by adding a black image to the collection but there is a bug and we have about 20 images and only the first 16 or showing and Dan has not been able to figure out where the bug lies. In my opinion many of these images are similar and you could delete a few that seem to be redundant so you could then add one that's just a plain black image and maybe it will have a similar effect
@@pdhowler Thanks for the information! I was able to replace one image with a black one, works until the changes are in, it does have the same effect as removing the environment. Onward, :)
HI CAN U HELP ME TO CONVERT A MOVIE FROM OLD PHONE !
Sweet!
'PromoSM' ☺️
I've watched several videos and I still don't understand what this application is about. It's such a mix of things.
it is indeed not just one thing. I is a paint program with focus on brushes. It also carries animations (sequences of frames). And has filters with 3d aspects. It does various things for video. You could say it's a mix of a bunch of tools seen in Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. It doesn't do everything, but it has a lot of capabilities. www.thebest3d.com/howler/the-dogwaffle-main-feature-list.html What do you want to create?
why your website is so ugly .when i search it in the chrom i see this and i think it is not the real website. i think you should update your web site.
why PD howler not verifide in windows? plesss anser. I want to buy it.
how can i buy it .where is the website link?
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. We don't have a huge user base of millions of users, so some antivirus programs might not recognize us in their database and try to block us. But we do not require any complex activation process. It's pretty much a matter of installing the program and running through the steps of the installer and letting the program run afterward to auto-register itself.
@@suhan808 The author is Dan Ritchie at pdhowler.com - pdhowler.com/Cart.htm - you can also find it at www.thebest3d.com/2024 and we offer it on Steam but not this latest version at the moment. Best if you order from Dan directly to help support him. Or at thebest3d. If you like it please tell others in your groups and social medias. We can use all the help we can get for extra exposure. Also provide feedback, what else you'd like to see next, so Dan can prioritize. Perhaps by the end of the year we'll have raytracing added, or dynamic ambient occlusion, shadows,...? I'm thinking it would be good also to have the Wireframe mode not just temporarily but with the option to keep it as the rendered final image, so as to do compositions for techno illustrations, combining shaded and wireframe styles. What do you think?
image maps have to be de-gamma corrected in order to work with gamma correction, so I'm not 100% sure that is being turned off when you turn off gamma correction, so they may be darker than expected in this particular case. Reflection maps are still pretty new. But the engine was made to be gamma corrected.
Would it be possible to have slots you can drag and drop material textures for the objects to incase they don't work as expected in the renderer? As you know, different 3d software doesn't always export things right for everything. Sprite Lamp is a good example of this for instance
I have been thinking about the same need for some sort of interactive controls for basic materials. I have seen obj files that don't have any accompanying material files whether it's because the export tool did not provide one or because the person who deployed it online doesn't know it needs to go with some extra file for materials plus potentially image files like jpegs. Sometimes the jpegs are have been referenced by an absolute path from the installation of the software and don't go to the place where you save the obj. There is definitely a lot of good reasons to have extra controls for materials but that is going to be a long road. We are exploring and learning what sort of material properties can be very impactful in the meantime such as Pm and the value for the metalness. But you must have at least some material file and you must identify it in the obj file as that material Library file plus you must use the material at least one of them. I suppose that we could also Define our own default material to use if the obj file did not have any materials defined but it would not easily be useful for regular obj files that I actually use their own material as they should
But I am happy that you asked this question because there is definitely room for improvement and perhaps a need for a standalone viewer with these rendering capabilities especially if it also has material controls
Philip, you are amazing! Your enthusiasm never fails to impress.
build 69. Nice 😉
Wow! Amapi, that brings back a few memories. The Amapi interface was really great. I really love that Dogwaffle is still going strong - it's really inspiring to see how far it has come over the years. You guys are legends!
I don’t know what to say amazing, ingenious, fabulous, interesting ,all of the above and more. The imagination and knowledge it takes to do something like this just boggles my mind.❤
When you selected a few lines of text, it turned into bright yellow highlight which is hard to see the words in it. Is there a way to change the color so I can see the words more easily when I select them? Thanks so much!
agreed, it is very hard to read for me too. I may be part color blind or old or both but white over light yellow is not a good idea. Can we just invert the selection so it shows as white on dark (black?) or whatever the colors in play are?
@@pdhowler It now uses the complement of the secondary color
